As the Export Manager you will Lead, mentor, develop, and motivate the UK Export Team (Cambridge, Heathrow and Edinburgh) within the Operations department, ensuring that all deliver a consistent, effective, and efficient service to internal and external customers. Support the team with complex, non-routine, and specialised requirements, sharing experience, knowledge, and insight to ensure team development.
You will hold overall line-management accountability for the UK Export Team across all UK sites, including performance management, capability development, succession planning, and employee relations, ensuring consistent people leadership and operational standards.
The role also requires regular travel between Cambridge (CBG) and Heathrow (LHR) approximately once per week, depending on base location, to maintain visible leadership and operational alignment across sites.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage and distribute the workload evenly across all UK locations, according to demand and resource available. Provide assistance as needed for all UK Export Team locations
- Responsible for managing and developing the UK Export team based in all UK sites.
- Ensure the export staff based in all UK sites act as ‘one team’.
- Identify process improvements and efficiencies and work with the team to implement effective solutions.
- Implement measures to continuously reduce the number of DG and Airline Export snags across the year.
- Develop accurate resource plans which consider opportunities for efficiencies as well as future business requirements.
- Ensure completion of individual and team deliverables, manage changing deadlines, address problems constructively, deal calmly with conflict where necessary, complete tasks/projects to a high standard and develop workable solutions, escalate appropriately where there are barriers to achieving the desired outcome.
- Encourage collaboration with the rest of the UK Operation, in addition to other departments and offices on a global basis, to achieve Biocairs company objectives in line with the companies core values and ethos.
- Be an advocate for positive change, by promoting a team culture of reflective learning and continuous striving for improvement. Enabling and empowering individuals within the team to implement improvements to existing processes or systems.
- Act as cover and point of contact in the absence of the Station Manager LHR or CBG.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
- Knowledge of airlines, air cargo, creation of master air waybills, airline rates, routings, and experience of working with an Air Export department.
- Regulatory compliance knowledge and understanding of the materials we are exporting.
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to train, mentor and manage a small team.
- Collaborative approach, working across functional areas and cultures.
- High levels of integrity, able to lead by example.
- Experience operating Customs systems: CDS, ASM Sequoia or equivalent.

Please note this is a full time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30-17.30 based out of either our Cambridge office or our London Heathrow office with regular weekly travel between both sites.
