The Import team is responsible for overseeing the effective design and provision of import logistics solutions that prioritize both timeliness and high-quality delivery standards, ensuring the compliant movement of goods through local customs and regulatory processes. This encompasses a broad range of logistics-based tasks, involving the strategic coordination of internal Biocair teams, third-party supplier networks, customs brokers, and customers. to ensure that the transport and delivery of goods align seamlessly with customer expectations.
The Import Manager will oversee several Import Coordinators at the local station level, managing operational performance using business metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess, monitor, and improve various aspects of the customer logistics function. The Import Manager will mentor the Import Coordinators, set local strategic goals, and design effective Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall team efficiency.
The Import Manager will also act as the local Product Owner for import broker management functions within Biocair’s proprietary transportation management system, iCair. In collaboration with the IT Business Partner, they will manage and prioritize the product backlog based on logged IT tickets and translate needed product improvements and expansions in functionality into tasks for development.
The Import Manager will also act as the local Data Owner for import broker details entered in Biocair’s proprietary transportation management system, iCair. They will be responsible for imparting the importance of TMS data integrity and accuracy upon their team, setting standards for best practices data input, and performing quarterly audits of import broker data in iCair. The ideal candidate will have full end-to-end experience and expertise in the compliant provision of our services using our operating systems and ensuring team members operate accordingly.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
- Previous proven experience leading an imports team.
- Data analysis to drive process and people improvements.
- Prior experience working within logistics and/or freight forwarding with specialist cold chain, pharma or life science industry experience being highly desirable.

Please note this is a full time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:30 and offered as 100% onsite at our office in Chicago (IL 60106).
