Preparing For Your Interview
1) Be yourself – We want to meet the real you, not a version you think we want to see. We welcome a diverse group of people from all places and walks of life, each of whom brings different viewpoints and abilities to the table. We believe that with a diverse mix of people, innovation flourishes. At Biocair we are committed to equality of opportunity for all and value diversity in our workforce. Please let us know when you confirm your attendance if you need us to make any special arrangements for your interview on account of a disability.
2) Be prepared – If we invite you to a virtual interview, find a quiet spot where you will be ensured privacy and no distractions and turn off your phone. Have a glass of water to hand and leave plenty of time to set up for your interview. Ensure that you can access the link and that the camera and microphone work. If we invite you to an in person interview, arrive with plenty of time to spare and find a quiet spot to wait until it is time to go in.
3) Research, research, research - Familiarise yourself with the job description for the opportunity and be prepared to discuss how your experience aligns with our requirements. Research our company to learn more about it and ensure that you have properly considered the salary as well as the job location and commute and that it is a viable option for you.
4) Bring real life examples of what you have done – Be honest and prepare examples of situations you have been in and what you have learned from them. A good framework to bear in mind is the STAR technique which stands for: Situation, Task, Action, Result. This means setting the scene (situation), describing what you wanted to achieve (task), communicating what you actually did (action), and then talking about the result. Stick to timelines for presentations and always have a backup copy in case of IT issues on the day. Give succinct answers and don’t go off on a tangent. If you are not clear on a question ask for clarification and take your time to pause and think before answering.
Good luck!
