Business Development Manager, South Africa Inland & Africa

Reporting to the Country Sales Manager, Africa the Business Development Manager role carries accountability for the commercial performance, long-term value creation, and financial health of the portfolio of customer accounts, while also contributing to the company’s growth ambitions in selected African markets.
Responsible for driving business development and sustainable revenue growth within the Life Sciences, Biopharma logistics and Clinical Trial services portfolio. The role focuses on acquiring new business, expanding strategic customer relationships, and creating long-term commercial value through compliant, high-quality life science logistics solutions.
Responsibilities will include:
Business Development activity covering the entire sales cycle from nurturing a prospect, through to winning the business.
Market Development & Portfolio Growth with a focus on Life Sciences, Biopharma and Clinical Trials, including travel across the inland provinces and further into Africa (e.g. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi amongst others).
Commercial Leadership & Negotiation including reporting, forecasting and governance.
Account Strategy, Value Creation & Relationship Management including Business Reviews, Financial Ownership and DSO Management.
Marketing & Industry Engagement at various events and customer presentations.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
A strong understanding of GDP/GMP requirements, cold chain logistics, and clinical trial supply chains.
Significant experience in business development or commercial roles within life sciences, biopharma logistics, clinical trial logistics, or specialized healthcare transport.
Proven success in closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals and managing strategic customer relationships.
An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong focus on growth and value creation.
A high level of commercial and financial acumen with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Please note this is a full time role, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30 and is offered as field based with a minimum of 1 day per week being spent at our Johannesburg office (Kempton Park 1619).
