Tax & Duty Specialist

As we continue to grow we are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Tax & Duty Specialist to join our Finance team in Cambridge. This role is key in ensuring our customers receive accurate and timely duty charges while supporting continuous improvement across our global processes.
Reporting to the Global AR Manager you will take ownership of the end to end global duty invoicing process, ensuring accurate, timely, and customer focused management of duty and tax recharges.
You will play a key role in improving current processes, reducing delays, and maximising cash flow whilst building strong working relationships across multiple departments and international customers.
Responsibilities will include:
Manage the global duty invoicing process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
Lead and support duty and tax process improvement initiatives, including automation of manual tasks.
Reduce backlog in alignment with monthly KPIs and business targets.
Work collaboratively with IT, Operations, and other internal teams to ensure duty invoices can be processed effectively.
Respond to duty‑related queries, escalating issues where necessary, including those related to regulatory, tax, or banking matters.
Complete all monthly finance activities with strong attention to detail.
Identify and contribute to improvements across the wider finance function.
Provide support to the Accounts Receivable team when required.
Ensure compliance with all relevant security policies, including IT and Information Security.

In addition, you will demonstrate these key competencies:
Invoicing and administration experience, ideally with international ledgers.
Good understanding of Incoterms and freight rate calculations.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise high volumes of work.
Confident decision‑maker with sound judgement.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
A collaborative team player with high ethical standards.

Please note this is a full time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:30 and is offered as hybrid working from our Cambridge office (CB22 3EG) with up to 2 days per week working from home.
